What is LARP?

LARP stands for live-action roleplay. The premise is similar in theme to popular roleplaying games such as Dungeons and Dragons, where participants create a character and use their imagination to solve quests written for them by a game master, who oversees the game. However, unlike in DnD where the action is imagined and combat is decided through dice rolls, players in a LARP game dress up as their characters and act out their gameplay, with a team of crew acting as the NPCs and monsters for them to interact with.

Combat is done physically, with foam and latex weapons used to represent real ones, and settings are represented by real-world buildings and areas rather than just being described. In LARP you wouldn't need to say "I attack the evil wizard" - you would be able to just do it.

To sum up, LARP is a strange mix of theatre, gaming, play fighting, and improv acting. It's easy to get into - players are generally incredibly supportive of new players, and once you get over the initial nerves you're likely to be hooked!

The Story of Kalassa

Once there was a vibrant, thriving world named Kalassa, a beautiful blue and green jewel that hung in the multiverse like so many others. It was a world populated by creatures of many kinds, all of whom had hundreds of years of history as well as their own interesting and individual lives. The people of Kalassa worked, played, slept, fought, smiled and cried as any others would. That was before it came, that force that swept out of the void and devoured the world piece by piece until nothing remained.

Or did it?

While unprepared for the scale of the Doom that came, the people of the world found unity in what should have been their final days and a last minute plan to save as many as possible was enacted. Conceived by Lianne, first among the Magi, what could be brought to bear of the world's resources and people were placed in her hands and a great ritual cast them out across the expanse of space and time, aiming them for a world farthest from the fate of the one before. The ritual was successful, lives were saved but so many were lost - of a world full of life, exactly 6471 people were saved of varying races and walks of life. The world that received them is wild and new, large and, except for the one small corner where this new community rests, largely unexplored. If the people of the Old World are to survive they will need those who are bold to lead them forward. Heroes, villains, and all those in between will come forth in these times to make their mark for good or for ill. You will be amongst them. You will see the People rise or the People fall. It is now your fate.
